Pilates is a fitness system developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. Originally named 'Contrology', Joseph used his system to help rehabilitate wounded soldiers in the first world war and later opened a studio in New York where he worked with professional dancers to enhance technique and recover from injury.
By following the Pilates principles of breathing, concentration, centering, precision and flow, whole-body health can be achieved. Pilates strengthens the deep core muscles within the body, giving more stability to your spine and pelvis.
